Scioto Valley LSD School-Based Health Clinic

In Partnership with

Valley View Logo

The Scioto Valley Local School District is committed to supporting the health, safety, and academic success of every student. Through our partnership with Valley View Health Centers, we are proud to offer a School-Based Health Center (SBHC) located on campus to provide accessible, high‑quality healthcare to students, families, staff, and community members.

The SBHC brings medical and behavioral health services directly into the school environment, reducing barriers to care and helping students remain healthy, engaged, and ready to learn.

About the School-Based Health Center

A School-Based Health Center functions much like a traditional pediatric or primary care office but is located on the school campus for added convenience. The center provides timely care for both immediate health concerns and ongoing wellness needs.

The SBHC is open to:

  • All Scioto Valley Local School District students

  • Families of SVLSD students

  • District staff

  • Community members

No care is provided for minors without the parent or guardian's consent.

Services Offered

The SBHC provides a comprehensive range of medical and behavioral health services, including:

  • Annual well‑child visits

  • Sick visits and same‑day appointments

  • Behavioral health counseling

  • Vaccinations and sports physicals

  • Chronic condition management

  • Prescription refills

  • Preventive care and health screenings

  • Coordination of care with school nurses and district staff

These services help reduce time away from school and work, ensuring students receive prompt, effective care.

Care Team

The center is staffed by licensed healthcare professionals from Valley View Health Centers who work collaboratively with district personnel to support student well‑being.

Care Team Members:

  • Ali Penn, CNP – Certified Nurse Practitioner

  • Alyse Carroll, LISW‑S – Behavioral Health Provider

  • Katlyn Groves & Trevor Sullivan – Case Managers

This team provides compassionate, student‑centered care in a familiar and supportive environment.

Working with the School Nurse

The School-Based Health Center enhances, rather than replaces, the services provided by the district’s school nurses.

School Nurses Continue To:

  • Provide first aid during the school day

  • Manage daily student health needs

The SBHC Provides:

  • Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses

  • Medication prescribing and refills

  • Behavioral health counseling

  • Preventive care and screenings

Together, these services create a comprehensive support system for student health.
