My name is Jodi Dixon and this is my 18th year teaching at Piketon. I have taught 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade. I am married to Mike and I have 2 wonderful children. Avery will be a sophomore and Addi will be in 5th grade. I am looking forward to meeting you!
I can't wait to begin this school year! I have been working in my classroom since June getting everything organized and ready for school to start. I have also been using Pinterest, reading new books, getting new ideas, and spending money on Teacher Pay Teacher for this upcoming school year. I have so many new ideas and new books for this year!
This year we will start with literary elements. We will begin with figurative language, mood, tone, character analysis, plot, showing evidence, etc... I have chosen a new book called Tuck Everlasting for students to learn these concepts.
Please make sure you child comes prepared for class each day. They will need to purchase a 1 inch 3 ring binder to keep in my room. I was recently at Dollar Tree where I saw them in their school supplies. I suggest that while school supplies are cheaper, you stock up on pencils, crayons/colored pencils, glue, notebooks, etc... You do not need to purchase tissues or Clorox Wipes.
If you have Facebook, please search for our class page Mrs. Dixon's Reading Info. This will keep you updated on weekly activities.
